Stamping parts processing The main purpose of the hardness testing of stamping parts materials is to determine whether the annealing degree of the purchased metal plates is suitable for the subsequent stamping parts processing. Different types of stamping parts processing technology require plates of different hardness levels.

The hot-rolled steel plate is usually thicker, and the steel standard generally stipulates that Brinell hardness tester is used to test the hardness. It is also feasible to detect hot-rolled steel plates with a Rockwell hardness tester, and HRB scales can be used. The portable Rockwell hardness tester is used to test hot-rolled steel plates, and it can be tested without sampling, and the operation is very simple.

Various cold-rolled steel sheets used for stamping processing mainly use Rockwell hardness testers to test the hardness, usually using HRB scales, and harder ones using HRC scales. For thin plate materials, Webster hardness tester can be used, and surface Rockwell hardness tester HRN or HRT scale can also be used.

The hardness of the brass plate used for stamping processing can be tested with the HRB scale of the Rockwell hardness tester. Softer brass and copper plates use HRF scales. Thinner sheets use the HRT scale.

The aluminum alloy plate used for stamping processing can be tested with a Webster hardness tester. When the thickness of the material is greater than 13mm, a Barcol hardness tester can be used instead. A Barcol hardness tester should be used for pure aluminum plates or low-hardness aluminum alloy plates.

The main material of the pressing die is die steel (including tool steel and high-speed steel), and sometimes cemented carbide is used.

The hardness test of die steel mainly adopts Rockwell hardness tester to test the HRC hardness value. When the mold is large and inconvenient to move, a Leeb hardness tester can be used. The hardness of cemented carbide is tested using the Rockwell hardness HRA scale.

In order to obtain high surface hardness and wear resistance, many stamping molds and stamping mold accessories are subject to surface heat treatment, such as surface nitriding. For such a mold, people are very concerned about its surface hardness and hardened layer depth. For stamping molds that are not too large and easy to move, the surface hardness HRN value can be directly tested on the surface Rockwell hardness tester. If the volume is large and it is not easy to move, the method of cutting the sample is adopted, and the HRN value is tested on the surface Rockwell hardness tester after sampling. The HV value can also be tested with a Vickers hardness tester. Another way is to use the same material to make a small test piece, conduct heat treatment under the same conditions, and then measure the hardness value of the test piece to estimate the hardness of the stamping die.

The depth of the hardened layer of the surface heat treatment stamping die can be detected with a Vickers or Knoop hardness tester.
